    I read your huge article on greek artist the boy and pedophilia, which I have to point out, is probably the longest piece ever written on him, or at least the longest one can find on the internet. As I can understand there are other articles too. There are two things I like to ask you honestly, so please don’t mistake me for attacking you

    1.1 Have you noticed that maybe you are getting obsessed with him? The part where you spent months listening to his songs, translating them, singing along with them, becoming sick etc…. It broke my heart. It also points out a need to understand. Even the way you admit to being enticed by his orpheus story… The way you struggle admitting it because he is “a bad man”. And the way you have read everything there is to read about him. I’m sorry, girl, but it all seems to follow the pattern of a stalker syndrome as, if you objectevely observe yourself, you yourself will be able to see. Even the way you invent conspiratory theories. There is a perfect pattern really. There is behind the lines of your writtings and actions spite and admiration, bitterness, cynicism and obsession, battling each other(where I have to point out that you are ultimately playing his game, being dragged into his world that is).

    1.2 His art. Why is it at all so disturbing when you can sit through records of cradle of filth?(speaking of torture, devil worship and other many disturbing things, which seem to be advocated for much franker than per say the greek filmmaker advocates pedophilia). I can suggest here an answer, which might shed some light to the “disturbing” admiration that might secretly move behind your occupation with him. The difference between cof and him is that cof reffers to things long past, that have very little to do with nowadays reality. It is fiction based on mythos and mediavel mostly history. Thus however disturbing, it can not deeply “wound” anyone, because there is no link between the horrors described and “the real world” in which one lives in today, so his very person.
    “The Boy” however, does surrealism. Which means his phantasies are deeply rooted in himself and his contmporary reality, it is a way to explore it away from the limited perspective of litterarism. The sickness you feel has probably a lot to do with finding kerns of truth in his nightmarish blabbering, in things that surround you, when not lie in you. And the subconcious will implore all kinds of mechanisms to shield itself from the horrors of the macaberness of the trueth.

    I quote here oscar wilde and you can replace the word books with anything actually:
    “The books the world calls immoral are the ones that show the world its own shame”

    For instance I can tell you lots of stories about these “wonderful, hardworking, monogamist, ethical, orthodox” people you spoke of and number 1 is that they are mostly,unknowngly willingly blind pretenders that actually dismiss every abused childs cry for help, when not abusers themselves. You needn’t know what corporal and psychological abuse people who grow up in these “loving” families have to deal with (or do you?), where the predators are protected by their social status of “uprighteusness” when the victims labled as naughty liers with wild fantasies.Why? You wanna know why the loving neighbours preffer, even when a kid speaks up, the explanation that the little lier probably fell down the stairs? Because they don’t want the ease of their black and white realities (where they and people like them are naturally always labled as white) disrupted and they don’t want the responsibility that comes with the trueth of the dark world surounding them, their internal and external cowerdice in exploring that darkness let alone confronting it and the idiocy of their “upright” lives. They prefer to turn their rage to imaginary enemies named by the tv, the inconprehenceable, the black sheeps, the people who have been to hell and back and are not willing to shut up about it or play along with the “happy circus”, or continouusly have to state in one way or the other that they are “the good guys”. They know they’re not. That is to the “normal sleeper” the actual disturbing thing about them. They carry the scary truth with them that no one is. There are no “good man”, there are no “hollywood heroes”. There are only those who can deceive themselves, those who can deceive others and themselves(majority probably) and those who purely deceive others(the rare people one might in some terms call evil)

    Honey, people who are truely evil, they are very good at hiding behind big smiles and “happy” lies and promises. They are also very keen to give you what you want, what puts you at “ease”, they will never explain their own darkness to you, on the contrary. Isn’t the devil in folklore mostly the “nice guy”, who flatters you and the things you think you stand for and gives you promises that “sound good”? Food for thought…

    I quote the debateable debated’s songs now “O Sakis Rouvas einai satanisths”… have you any idea how much sense that makes?

    Have you ever thought that what artists that sound dark describe is not neccessarily their own darkness but that of the world that surrounds them (which some have the courage to see mirrored in their own selves too)? That surrounds us all? That it’s a painful wake- up call?

    [I strongly suggest that you read anything of Franz Kafka who had the habbit of working in this exact way. In particular “the trial”, where you might find the internal battle between comfortable blindness and a wake up call. It also might shed some light on some of yr own actions, if you give particular thought to the words of “the priest”(before- last chapter)]

    That all leads me to my second question:

    2. Have you ever thought that the guy might not be a predator but a victim himself ?

    That he uses the art to explore that dark side, deal with it, draw attention to it? Please don’t mistake “hard guy”-type statements as opinions. People who have been through serious trauma often use that facade, they distanse themselves
    from the world, they tend to attain a liking to shocking others and seeming cruel, as not to seem vulnerable. To remain safe and distant. It also comes natural to them to talk about things that seem terrible to others as if they are funny or natural.
    Cause they been there. Cause these things became natural to them. Cause the “good people” chose blindness, abandoning them. Thus they want the whole world to see these terrible things, they want to force them upon them. They want to force them to hurt and see.. They want them for the length of a film, a song, a book, whatever, to experience the pain people around them go through. force them to act instead of blabbering slogans like “Ban pedophilia”, “Hate the predators”. Evil honey isn’t created by people. It moves in chains. People are pawns in it and turning a blind eye or choosing the easyness of personal hatred, breeds it. Gandi says: “I am the wound and the knife”.
    Each of us is. I hope you have the courage to comprehend this.

    But returning to the subject of mister Boulgaris as these are mere generalisations and partly made by observation and partly by personal experiences, thus can never be entirely objective.

    About my claim that he might be a victim. Here are the facts. Victims of pedophilia are robbed of their childhood. Thus they usually try to reconnect with their inner child their whole fucking lives. Some surround themselves by dolls, young people etc. And the scariest of all is that most have not only to battle the shame, pain, trauma and the rejection of other people to help them in childhood, as well as let them share their horrendus experiences in adulthood. Most of them have to battle with pedophilic tendencies that arise within themselves,too. ( If you have ever watched law and order or read reports on the phenomenon you might know that a really big percentage of people abusing kids have been abused themselves. It’s a complex and dark subject, as is the human psychi. However one cannot be condemned for thinking about sth, only for acting upon it. ) Some brave souls do so successfully and some don’t. The people who tend to do it are the people who have failed to admit it to themselves or confront it until they snap.

    But back to mister Bulgaris. He calls himself “the boy”. He is obsessed with kids and teenage movies. He surrounds himself with young people when filming. He makes many references to child rape and feels it is sth missing from teenage flicks, as if a dark trueth is remaining untold. Everything he does is surrounded by a contradiction of softness and tenderness and an immense hatred for the world as if it has personally wronged him. Concider the pattern please

    Consider you two may actually be fighting for the same thing.

    The knowledge of the abused kid however, which might have been himself or someone close to him, is that the worst part is not people not hating more on predators, because in words everybody does as its the easy thing to do, but people turning a blind ear and eye . I came to know this myself miss.

    Consider also that one who has been traumatised immensely and survived cannot know the tender limits of people who have not.(thus the parents maybe having to talk up before him realising that he might be about to traumatise the kids, and changing the script). There loving miss those people might be making the same mistake many people do., including you maybe. Expecting people to act and feel the way they do. It’s a common mistake really and we all have to work ourselves through that.

    Nobody is perfect and there is a darkness in each and every one of us. However our courage lies in confronting it instead of letting our subconcious project it on other people, making life easier for us by hating others, attaining self-worth in mad crusades to “stop them”, caught up in some crazy fantasy that if we stop “the bad people” all evil in this world ends. And all that cause we can’t confront the complicated trueth and the darkness within ourselves.

    Schlusswort

    Of course I might be wrong. But I would like as a fellow human being to warn you against being caught up in a sad routine and waste your energy and clever mind on battling, what might actually be on the same side really.But in a different way than yours due to the difference in experiences.

    As for mister Boulgaris again, in case I am right, and he is trying to work through his own trauma, maybe in a way that seems to you absurd but what we cant relate to always does, let him write about coming to pictures of little girls, if it helps him work through those feelings and prevents him from actually hurting one, in the end its a good thing isnt it?

    You might say then he advocates pedophilia, but I doubt the nightmarish context in which he puts it hardly inspires anyone to do it. One might claim that it might have exactly the oposite effect. Which suits your own intentions for the world too, doesn’t it?

    As they say 2+3=5. But so does 1+4. The way you do things is not the only way to do them.

    Be sure however that one doesn’t wake up one day with a nightmareworld at the tip of his tounge and fingers without something seriously horrible happening to him. Be also sure that people who have been traumatized often find strangely strength and courage in others freely expressing that trauma. It helps them let go and heal. It is not a lack of compassion. It might actually be the oposite. However it is hardly obvious.
    But the obvious has the tendency to lie.Simplicity is merely a comfortable castration of trueth and meaning.

    For you to consider a comment made by the person in question in some old interview. He says about his fans something in the terms of :

    “I dont want to know them. I dont want to shake hands with them. How can I be sure that for instance they aren’t horrible people raping their daughters in attics?”

    So no dear, my guess is he doesnt like it. Quite the opposite actually

    But this long letter I send to you is not about him.It is about not being too quick to judge. And it is about maybe sharing some info about how art and mind work, in ways you might not have realised, that might help you maybe with yourself and your writings. Also to make you aware of the fact that you might actually be bushing a victim trying, even in this surreal seemingly hateful way, to speak up.

    I believe in the freedom of art miss. And I believe that “hurting” the numbness of the “good people” is neccesssary so that they might actually, after being hurt themselves, find the courage to confront the darkness around them they turn a blind eye to, thus becoming acomplices, and maybe after a long process become good people without ” “.

    Your major problem with mister Boulgaris is that he speaks about pedophilia but he doesn’t condemn it, right? well, let me ask you this. When did condemning something ever change things for the better? Do you for instance think that condemning drugs stops young people from taking them, or that it makes them sweeter and leads them straight to them in the unavoidable “rebellious phase”? May I incline you to suspect that the whole market of whoring, sexual slavery with it, and pornography are breeding on the condemnation of sexual practices outside monogamy, so that people may pay to do them in secret? May I suggest that t society has been playing for ages the game of “condemning” things and then pushing them under the table for a price, as to keep people numb, confused, in shame, the perfect subjects to exploitation as sickness they are unable by their self proclaimed “uprightusness” to confront, breeds within them and around them? Food for thought. Keep your eyes open, put the pieces together, you’re a smart girl i bet. Don’t be a part of trying to push “the dirt” under the carpet. It is exactly where it thrives and controls our lives from.

    To understand these statements I strongly suggest you watch the south park episode butt out(S7 EP 13)

    In the end art does this. It states the facts. Opinions are so unimportant in it, as they are in life. It just states the facts as it sees fit and lets you do with them whatever you please. It’s all one can do, as in the end it is exactly what you will.

    So I leave you with a small story. I was talking with a director friend about the greek film “Miss Violence”
    He was talking to me about the rape scene and the logic proceding it. He said it was a miracle. There was someting about it… It made you want to go out there and actually kill anyone you even suspect of doing it, even if it means that your ass will be put to jail. That things you would easily ignore suddenly got a new grotesque meaning you wouldn’t be able to look away from.

    I rest my case

    But then again there would be people, “feminists” and others claiming rape scenes should be removed. That they are diminiscing to women and stuff like that, but only from a limited perspective. Mostly honey, I think those are the people that hate to be reminded that it so happens that they might be raped and the people who hate to be reminded that there is a part of themselves that might actually want to rape. Both of these types of people let their actions be governed by fear and some obscure sense of puritanism that thrives on it

    Thus I end my letter to you with an old forgotten quote. About the person who wrote him one might have to say a lot, but people and ideas dear aren’t one and the same, do not confuse the one with the other. Even the worse among the worse, as one would label them, have wisdom and trueth to share if you only let them. The inevitable imperfection of one part has nothing to suggest about the worth of the other:

    (However i wouldn’t be able to identify with self proclaimed “feminists”. There is always something rediculous about people willingly labling themselves as anything, actually. It breeds dellusion and is a sad thing.
    Only our actions can speak any kind of trueth about us, but that trueth sadly remains concealed to us most of the time, exactly due to these kind of fantasies about the self and what we supposedly chose it to be)

      Μιας και σε έπιασα σε αυτήν την ιστοσελίδα να θέλεις να γίνεις δοκιμάστρια για κοιλοτες μπικίνι σε φωτογραφους –> http://www.freelist.gr/ad.php?adId=49306-4&cityId=8&subcatId=41 (και συγνώμη που σε μπέρδεψα με την αλληνα την τρελό-Ελβετίδα με το ίδιο όνομα) θα σου πω μερικά πραγματάκια στα Ελληνικά μπας και τα καταλάβεις γιατί νομίζω πως σαν νέα κοπέλα 24 χρονων από τον Βόλο πας να τα βάλεις με μια παλιοφεμινίστρια σαν εμένα που είναι λίγο ποιο διαβασμένη και ταξιδευμένη από εσένα.

      Πρώτα, εγώ πρώτοδιάβασα Κάφκα όταν ήμουνά 16 χρόνων, στα Γερμανικά και μάλιστα αναγκαστικά για τα μαθήματα Γερμανικά που έκανα τότε στο Ολλανδικό λύκειο τότε στο Άμστερνταμ. Ο Κάφκα δεν είναι σουρεαλιστής και οι ιστορίες του δεν έχουν να κάνουν με το υποσυνήδητο. Ο Κάφκα ήτανε ένας Γερμανόφωνος Εβραίος που ζούσε στην Τσεχοσλοβακία αλλά δεν ήθελε να ταυτοποιειται με την Εβραϊκή κοινοτητα. Ταυτοποιόταν με την Γερμανική κουλτούρα και γλώσσα, μια κουλτούρα που ποτέ δεν θα τον δεχόταν εξετιάς της Εβραϊκής καταγωγής του. Στις ιστορίες του χρησιμοποιούσε αλληγορίες για να εκφράσει την αποξένωση και το άγχος που του προκαλούσε αυτός ο Γερμανικός ρατσισμός προς τους Γερμανόφωνους Εβραίους. Οπότε δεν είναι σωστό να θεωρούμε τον Κάφκα σουρεαλιστή. Ο τρόμος που του προκαλούσε αυτός ο Γερμανικός ρατσισμός, αν και αυτός ο ιδιος ταυτιζόταν με την κουλτούρα τους, δεν ήταν υποσυνείδητος. Ήξερε πως αυτό το σιωπηλό μίσος αργά η γρήγορα θα έφραζότανε με βία. Βασικά εσύ κανείς με τον Κάφκα ακριβως αυτό που κανείς με τον Αλέξανδρο. Όλοι νομίζουν πως όταν ο Αλέξανδρος μιλάει για παιδεραστια την χρησιμοποιεί μεταφορικά/σουρεαλιστικά και όχι κυριολεκτικά σαν την κρυφή του και καταπιεσμένη του επιθυμία, αν και το έργο αλλά και ο Facebook λόγος του ξεκάθαρα δείχνουν πως εκεί πρέπει να το ψάξουμε το θέμα. Σαν νέα κοπέλα μάλλον πρέπει να μάθεις πως όταν οι άνδρες εκφράζουνε τον σεξισμο τους δεν εκφράζονται μεταφορικά αλλά κυριολεκτικά εκφράζουν το μισογυνισμό τους, εναν μισογυνισμό συνειδητό, κυριολεκτικό και όχι υποσυνειδητο. Νομίζω πως για τις Ελληνίδες είναι θέμα επιβίωσης σε ένα πατριαρχικό σεξιστικό Ορθόδοξο καθεστώς να μην θέλουνε να ακούνε τι λένε κυριολεκτικά οι άνδρες για της γυναίκες και τα παιδιά όταν τα αντικοινενικοποιούν με τον ποιο αδιαστικό και απάνθρωπο τρόπο. Αυτή η διάψευση των Ελληνίδων γυναικών είναι η βάση για την δημοφιλία του Αλεξάνδρου στον
      γυναικείο hipsteroπληθυσμό της Αθήνας που του έχει στήσει ναο ειδωλολατρειας στο Facebook.

      Επόμενα μου λες να πάω να διαβάσω Καντ. Όταν πάμε να μελετήσουμε την φιλοσοφία δεν τραβάμε στα τυφλά βιβλια γνωστών φιλοσόφων από τα ράφια και τα διαβάζουμε στα καλά καθούμενα μπας και καταλάβουμε κάτι που μας αρέσει. Μελετάμε την φιλοσοφία με συστηματικό τρόπο. Οι φιλοσοφικές παπαριές του Καντ έχουν επιστημονικά και με έρευνα διαψευσθεί από τον Γάλο κοινωνιολόγο Pierre Bourdieu. Δεν υπάρχει “ουσιαστική ελευθερία”, η “ουσιαστική ομορφιά” όπως υποστηρίζε τότε ο Καντ. Καταλαβαίνεις τώρα τί κανείς όταν διαβάζεις παλιούς και ξεπερασμένους φιλοσόφους μπας και καταλάβεις κάτι που γουστάρεις; Διαβάζεις ξεπερασμένες και διαψεύδομενες σκέψεις χωρίς να το ξέρεις και της μπερδεύεις για επίκαιρες. Την επιστήμη δεν την διαβάζουμε έτσι για πλάκα.

      Από τότε που άρχισα να χρησιμοποιώ Facebook βλέπω συνέχεια κοπέλες της ηλικίας σου στον δικτυακό χώρο να το παίζουνε γαμιόλες, καυλιάρες, μαζόχες, παιδωλολίτες, dominatrix και γενικότερα σεξοτσαμπουκαλούδες. Τα περισότερα από αυτά τα κορίτσια είναι χωριατοπούλες σαν εσένα που ούτε σε σεξ πάρτι δεν έχουνε πάει, ούτε σε στριπτίζ σοου, ούτε καν από τον Βόλο δεν έχουνε κατέβει μια φορά στο sex shop της Δράμας να δούνε τί ψυχοπαθιές περίεργες αρρώστειες παζαρεύονται εκεί, ούτε έχουνε γνωρίσει ποτέ άτομα του χώρου BDSM, ούτε έχουν δουλέψει ποτέ ητε επαγγελματικά ητε αφιλοκερδώς με θύματα της σεξουαλικής βίας για να γνωρίσουνε από κοντά τον μισογυνισμό. Απλώς βρήκαν ένα Βαβέλ η ένα κόμικ του Μαναρα, τους έδειξε ο γόμενος κάτι από το Kink σε τόρεντ και για να του κάνουνε το γούστο είπαν να ανακαλύψουν και να εκφράσουν την πουτάνα που δήθεν κρύβουν μέσα τους, έτσι κι αλλιώς αυτή είναι η πλύση εγκεφάλου που τους έχει κάνει η Ελληνική πατριαρχία, πως είναι όλες κατά βάθος πουτάνες. Έχεις δει ποτέ Ελληνική ταινία όπου η γυναίκα να είναι αστροναύτισα και να σώζει τον κόσμο όπως στις Αμερικανικές ταινίες; Εγώ στις Ελληνικές ταινίες μόνο πουτάνες και θύματα βλέπω. Και αυτός ο σκουπιδένιος τρόπος με τον οποίο αντιμετωπίζεται ο γυναικειος ρόλος στον Ελληνικό σινεμά δεν είναι μεταφορικός, είναι ακριβώς το πως βλέπουνε οι στην πλειοψηφία άνδρες σκηνοθέτες τις Ελληνίδες. Τι να κανείς λοιπόν σε μια χώρα που σου λέει και σου δείχνει συνεχώς πως το μόνο που μπορείς να γίνεις είναι πουτάνα η θύμα; Σαν Ελληνίδα χωρίς τις δυνατότητες να αντισταθείς με ουσιαστικό τρόπο παίζεις τον ρόλο που σου ορίστηκε. Πας και γίνεσαι δοκιμάστρια για κιλότες μπικίνι σε φωτογράφους, και νομίζεις πως έχεις μια γαμιόλα εμπειρια λες και είσαι η Ελληνίδα Molly Crabapple. Αν πηγαινα αυτές της χωριατόπουλες που το παίζουν μοντέλα και καυλιάρες σε ένα πραγματικό BDSM μπουντρούμι για βασανιστήρια, θα ετρέχαν κλαίγοντας με το βρακάκι χεσμενο πίσω στις μανούλες τους και πολύ σωστά θα έκαναν. Υπαρχει μια Αμερικανική παροιμία που λέει: “Ο λόγος που αρχικά σπρώξαμε το σεξ μέσα στο ντουλάπι δεν ήταν για να το διεστραβλώσουμε, αλλά γιατί είναι διεστραβλωμενο.”. Μακάρι να άλλαζε αυτό, αλλά σ’ένα πατριαρχικό καθεστώς αυτό είναι ουτοπία. Οποιαδήποτε σεξουαλική πράξη είναι μαριναρισμένη στο μίσος και την κακιά τον ανδρών προς τις γυναίκες.       Οσο για την ανησυχία σου, μην τυχόν και κάνω stalking τον Άλεξ, σίγουρα δεν θα με κατηγορούσες εάν γνώριζες τι είναι το stalking και σίγουρα δεν θα με κατηγορούσες εάν ήμουν άντρας που έκανε έρευνα για ένα δημόσιο πρόσωπο που έκανε ανεπίτρεπτες δηλώσεις περί το θέμα της παιδεραστιας και του παιδεραστικής πορνογραφίας. Το να υπερασπίζεται κάποιος την παιδεραστια είναι απαγορευμένο στην Ευρώπη, εάν και η Ελλάδα ξεκάθαρα γράφει αυτό το δικαστικό προηγούμενο στα αρχίδια της. Όλα αυτά προσπάθησε το Ελληνικό κράτος, αλλά και η Ελληνική Ακαδημία Κινηματογράφου να τα καληψει όταν εγώ τα αποκάληψα εδώ στο blog, χρηματοδοτίζοντας τον και βραβευοντας τον. Νομίζεις πως αυτό το άτομο που τόσο μανιασμένα τον προστατεύει το κράτος, όσο σκατά και άν είναι οι ταινίες του και αισχρές οι απόψεις του, νομίζεις πως αυτός έχει τίποτα να φοβηθεί από την κριτική; Οπότε σου επιβεβαιώνω πως δεν έχω καμία επιθυμία να γνωρίσω αυτό το άτομο η να πάω να τον βρω. Μάλιστα αποφεύγω να πηγαινω στο φεστιβάλ της Θεσσαλονίκης γιατί ξέρω πως είναι αυτός κάθε χρόνο εκεί και δεν θέλω να τον πετύχω. Εάν είχα λεφτά για ταξίδια, πολύ προτιμότερα θα πηγαινα σε κανένα ωραίο νησί από το να πηγαινα στα Εξάρχεια ψάχνοντας τον.

      Ο Άλεξ δεν χρειαζεται την υπεράσπιση σου. Τον υπερασπίζεται μια χαρά το σόι του και ιδιαιτερα η κομμουνιστρια η μάνα του, η Ιωάννα Καρυστιάνη, που μια φορά πριν μερικά χρόνια μες την παράνοια της πήρε τηλέφωνο το φεστιβάλ της Δράμας (με τους οποιους δεν έχω καμία επαγγελματική σχέση, είμαι απλώς άλλος ένας επισκέπτης του φεστιβάλ αλλά αυτή μάλλον έβγαλε το λανθασμένο συμπέρασμα πως δουλέω για αυτούς, γιατί αλίμονο να γράψει κάποιος ένα άρθρο για το φεστιβάλ απλά γιατί είναι πολίτης της πόλης και του αρέσουνε οι ταινίες, στο κομμουνιστικό μυαλό της Καρυστιάνη δεν γινετε να γράφεις όταν δεν πληρώνεσαι για αυτό) και εκλαιγε στο τηλέφωνο σε μια γνωστή ενός φίλου μου που ήταν εθελοντής στο φεστιβάλ ρωτώντας την αν σκοπεύω να έρθω στην Αθήνα να βρω τον γιόκα της. Δεν μίλησα ποτέ πριν για αυτό το συμβάν, γιατί μου φάνηκε τόσο παράλογο και ανόητο τότε, αλλά θέλω να καταλάβετε τι εννοούμε όταν λέμε μια οικογενεια στον κουλτουριάρικο χώρο οικογενιοκρατία. Χρησιμοποιούν το κουτσομπολιο και τις φημες για να καταστρέψουν τους ιδεολογικούς εχθρούς τους, ακριβώς όπως κάνει η εξουσία στην οποία δήθεν αντιστέκονται. Και οι αριστερές και οι δεξιές οικογενιοκρατίες της Ελλάδας (δύο πλευρά που και τα δύο είναι πατριαρχικά και μισογυνα) εφαρμόζουν αυτήν την μέθοδο για να σωπάσουν τους κριτικούς. Εμένα σαν ήδη επίμαχο άτομο δεν μπορούν να με κάνουν τίποτα. Να κουτσομπολεύεις λέγοντας εμένα stalker είναι σαν να βρίζεις τον Παναγιώτη Χατζηστεφάνου λέγοντας τον πούστη – βεβαια σε μια κοινωνία που δεν μπορεί να δεχτεί ποτέ μια γυναίκα να κάνει και να λέει ο,τι λέει και κάνει ο Χατζηστεφάνου. Φαντάζομαι όμως πως υπάρχουν αρκετά άτομα στον χώρο του Ελληνικού κινηματογράφου που ήδη γνώριζαν αυτά που έμαθα εγώ, αλλά έτρεμαν και ακόμα τρέμουν να μιλήσουν για αυτά μην τυχόν και αρχίσει η Καρυστιάνη τα “συντροφικά” τηλεφωνήματα και τα “συντροφικά” κλαψίματα της. Σύντροφοι και συμπέθεροι, ουδεμία η διάφορα στην οικογενιοκρατούμενη Ελλάδα, όλοι μαζί στο ίδιο σαλόνι με τους άλλους στο καζάνι τον κανιβαλων. Η Καρυστιάνη είπε μάλιστα σε πρόσφατο βιντεάκι στο Youtube πως η οικογενια είναι η ανώτερη μόνιμη “συλλογικότητα” (δηλαδή πατριαρχική αδελφότητα) πάνω από τον νόμο. Καταλαβαίνεις λοιπόν πως όταν ασκώ σκληρή πολεμική κριτική πάνω σε αυτούς, έχει να κάνει με κάτι ποιο ουσιαστικό από το δικό σου το “καλε άσε το καημένο το αγόρι να τραβήξει μια μαλακία στα μούτρα της Ευα Ιονέσκο, είναι καλό παιδί.”. #NotYourShield

    Everything I write on this blog is infused with feminism and written from a feminist perspective. If you have a problem with feminist criticism of popular culture please stop reading this blog. I would’ve blocked you myself if I could but WordPress unlike Facebook foolishly doesn’t allow that option.

    The reason why I spent 3 months researching Alexander’s work is because Alexander did a Youtube interview in 2013 wherein he praised the film critics of the past for spending months on a single essay. I wanted to subject Alexander to exactly the kind of detailed and rigorous analysis that he himself praises in past film critics. I find it very telling that whenever Alexander speaks of rigorous film criticism and of film critics pushing film along with their criticism he always excludes feminist film critique. Alexander has repeatedly stated in interviews and on Facebook that his favourite film genre is sci-fi, but apparently he doesn’t know that the woman who wrote the book _Limits to Infinity_, the first authoritative academic overview and analysis of the golden age of the American sci-fi film, is in fact a phenomenological feminist –> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vivian_Sobchack

    I am pretty sure you wouldn’t have called me “obsessed” if I had been a male critic writing an analysis of Alexander’s work for an academic publication. The only reason you are using such a term to invalidate my writings is because I am a woman and because I do not have any institutional validation to hide my personal interests behind like male scholars do when they use the institution as a means to legitimize their very personal “obsessions”. I don’t need such an institutional legitimization because I feel that institutions are inherently sexist, have done more to censor women than to welcome them and I feel that women should need no one’s permission or validation to write or research whatever they want.

    To respond to your comment about Alexander being a child of child abuse, Alexander has plainly stated in interviews that he has no experience whatsoever with sexual child abuse. He once told a kinda hazy kinda weird story on Facebook about visting New York at the age of 18 and being molested there by an older man, but he wasn’t a child when this happened if it happened. Alexander’s mom Ionanna Karystiani was a card-carrying member of the Greek Communist Party (KKE) and hence Alexander and his sister were made to join the Greek Communist Youth (KNE) party-organization in their early teens. Alexander said in an interview with K magazine that he hated the experience of being with the Greek Communist Youth and compared the experience to “child pornography” because he felt he was being paraded as a 13 year old at public Party ralies. Alexander’s sister Constantina has suggested in a Youtube interview that there was also a certain amount of parental neglect involved because she and Alexander had a very free upbringing and their family was what she calls a “μπαχαλο” –> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UoUmNLtQn7g So, contrary to what you claim, Alexander isn’t a victim but a victimizer. His flirtation with child pornography is the result of his idolization of male American filmmakers who are themselves child abusers – specifically Roman Polanski and Woody Allen – and the result of being part of a generation that has easy access to pornography through the internet. Alexander’s thinking on the topic of women and sex is very much in line with PUA and MRA online sub-cultures. Even Youtube has allowed pedophiles to upload excerpts from Maladolescenza to their platform, knowing this movie is criminal child pornography. Alexander basically considers child pornography to be the ultimate cinematic taboo. It’s purely about using the shock value of child pornography to startle audiences. Alexander isn’t fighting for anything like you claim, he has plainly stated he is an anomic filmmaker with no political beliefs. I’ll admit I am not very familiar with the music of Sakis Rouvas (when I first returned to Greece he had just finished that silly TV series about being in a band), but as far as I know Rouvas has never made songs about wanting to molest little girls (someone correct me if I am wrong). It’s typical that you bring up Sakis Rouvas and not Stefanos Korkolis who like Rouvas is also a Greek teen idol of a pop singer, but was also a man who was clearly a sexual predator of a misogynist and whose sex tape with a minor was a huge scandal in Greece in the mid 1990s when I was a teenager in Amsterdam (my closest friend in Greece sent me a video tape of the AMAN satirical TV show where they covered the scandal). There is undeniably a culture of child abuse and child pornography in Greece. Look at Panos Koutras’ last film, Xenia, where the protagonist is a 15 year old boy being sexually molested by a mature gay man, a doctor, at the very beginning of the film. Koutras claim he supports young people –> https://vimeo.com/125811174 but how is showing a 15 year old gay prostitute being molested by a doctor at the beginning of his film meant to be a supportive portrayal of the young? How is such implicit catering to homosexual pedophiles ever supportive? This is the cultural context in which Alexander can openly post his pedophilia apologetics to Facebook to his 5000+ followers without anyone but me making a squeak about it. In fact, if you read the post you will see how some of his fans, male and female, were gloating at his recommendations and began posting their own suggestions of pedophilic movies. Alexander himself remains unrepentant. In his upcoming movie, which was supposed to feature actress Sofia Kokkali interpreting the two roles of the mother and the son, Alexander actually went and hired a third Greek actress, Daphné Patakia, and actress with that pubescent look that he’s fascinated with, and had Patakia perform, what else, a prostitute. He hasn’t released any footage from his film yet, but she included an excerpt of her performance as a prostitute in Alexander’s movie in her demo-reel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Mcv-havM0s He is clearly unrepentant. He refuses to concede that his pedohilia apologetics and hipster flirtation with child pornography is unhealthy and destructive.

    In Greece it’s culturally accepted that men are sexually predatory and sexually abusing young girls. This is why we now have unaccompanied refugee children being abducted in Greece with no one doing anything to stop it. Greece is a pedophile’s paradise right now with the trafficking and abduction of children happening in the open. I am disgusted at the way Alexander’s flirtation with pedophilia has become so commonplace and accepted within the Athenian hipster milieu at the same time as refugee children being abducted by traffickers. I see a connection between the two. There is a connection between a culture of cold indifference and a culture of exploitation and trafficking. Anyone who has already dehumanized and objectified children in their mind as sex objects, is going to be cold and indifferent towards refugee children being killed, drowning, being abducted, being trafficked. You shouldn’t be making up excuses for men like Alexander Voulgaris or Stefanos Korkolis. You are the second woman to comment here on the blog about my essay, but no one has ever contacted Alexander about his Maladolescenza post on Facebook. Instead of wasting your time posting comments on my blog insulting me for being a feminist critic while excusing Alexander’s inexcusable comments in favour of child pornography and the sexual exploitation of children in film, you should be writing letters of protest to the Hellenic Film Academy Awards protesting Alexander’s lionization.

    Anti-feminist women like you always admonish feminist women like me for “taking on a label” while bashing feminism in the name of your alleged individuality. There is nothing individualistic about being a rape apologist. Rape is the norm in a sexist society, and you are merely following the herd that enables this rape culture. I guess that for women like you your imagined individuality is worth the exploitation of children. I and many other feminists on the other hand will stand up and be counted against this kind of abuse. It’s feminist women who acknowledge and defend the autonomy of a child who are the real defenders of their individuality.
