Only an American would mistake advertising slogans for poetry (poem)

Good evening American
How was the drone killing
How was the FBI pedophile sting
The ring around the rosey rape ring
By all means step in the ring
And begin with the usual advertisement sales sloganeering
Making up slogans all day at the advertising agency office space
One sales-slogan after another to sell a product or a face
You can never appear too smart in American music
All you want is for people to think you’re cool and tough and go “wow, that’s siiick”
In American art you can never appear too intelligent
Because the CIA might come knocking at your door and recruit you as a spy agent
If you’re too smart for their liking
They might even put bullet through your head
Like they did to some past leaders
Everything regarding that was never said
Only an American would mistake advertising slogans for poetry
I’ve already had enough of the sales one-liners
So just shut up
Stick your American adverts up your ass
And let me wonder at real artistry
Nevertheless I wonder
Can an American like you criticize me
Without mentioning my being a woman or my sexuality?
Let’s wait forever and see
